Funding Updates

The Impact we've Made Together

Since we first began our mission in 1985, Suncoast Charities for Children has sought to make a direct impact in our community by providing funding to local agencies in support of children, teens, and adults with special needs. 

With your help, we have been successful in this mission, leading to our ability to support critical programs and services at ten non-profit agencies throughout Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto, Escambia, Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties.

Here are a few examples of how your investment has made a positive impact
January 1, 2026 - May 1, 2026

 

  • 335 At-risk preschool children will receive 4,405 nutritious meals to help fight childhood hunger. 
  • 43 At-Risk Preschool children will thrive in more inclusive classrooms with new sensory tables, chairs, and swings designed to support regulation and engagement. 
  • 5 Working families facing financial crisis will receive emergency support to prevent eviction, utility shutoffs, and disruption to their child’s stability. 
The Haven
  • 600 Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities will be able to enjoy new inclusive outdoor fitness equipment, which will encourage movement, wellness, and connection. 
  • 8 Children with special needs will receive scholarships to attend summer camp where they can continue to learn and make new friends. 
Florida Center for Early Childhood
  • 120 Children will benefit from new classroom materials and supplies, strengthening their learning environment now and for years to come. 
  • 80 Vulnerable Families will receive essential items like diapers, bus passes, and personal care supplies to ease daily burdens. 
  • 16 Children received scholarships that provided weekly access to critical developmental and mental health therapy services. 
  • 81 Students with developmental disabilities will now have access to an audiometer for on-site hearing screenings and diagnostic assessments. 
  • 40 Students with autism and other exceptionalities will now benefit from the installation of a therapy swing. 
  • 100 Students with intellectual and developmental disabilities will gain greater access to learning through adaptive communication and visual support tools. 
  • 50 Students with special needs will benefit from new sensory tools that improve regulation, focus, and classroom participation. 
  • 180 Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities will gain life skills, independence, and community connection through enhanced programs and outings. 
Special Olympics
  • 20 Individuals with physical and/or cognitive challenges will now feel welcomed and accepted at Camp Shriver this summer at Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School in Sarasota. This inclusive camp builds self-confidence, develops social skills, and fosters a sense of belonging in the community.  
  • 20 Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities will receive work-ready kits that remove barriers for employment success. 
  • 20 Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities will gain access to assistive and sensory support tools that reduce anxiety and foster independence on the job. 
  • 165 Differently abled children, teens, and adults will step onto the baseball field with pride in new team uniforms. 
  • 6 Individuals with physical and cognitive challenges will have the opportunity to attend Dream Oaks Camp this summer. This experience will provide a meaningful respite from their daily routines and allow them to participate in recreational activities, develop friendships and camaraderie, and enjoy a supportive camp environment. This will also provide a valuable period of rest and renewal for their families and caregivers.
